American Association of Pastoral Counselors: Midwest Region

Regional Conference

2011 Regional Conference

PLAN NOW TO JOIN US – REGIONAL MEETING

SEPTEMBER 23-24, 2011

FORT WAYNE, IN

We are looking forward to an exciting conference with Loren Townsend, Ph.D. as our plenary

speaker on the theme: Mist, Substance, and Hot Air: Making Sense of Shifting Ground.

In the plenary sessions, Loren will:

· Explore several key areas where seismic shifts in human sciences, behavioral sciences and theological thought about human persons challenge us to revise some of the fundamental assumptions and theological supports that have guided pastoral care and counseling.

· Look at some reasons why we should care about such matters.

· Propose ways to improve “best practices” by paying critical attention to this new knowledge that expands our vision of the human person, enriches our theological foundations for practice, and enhances our effectiveness as therapists and pastoral care specialists.

Loren is well-known among us as a Diplomate in AAPC, an approved supervisor by the

American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and a licensed marriage and

family therapist.
